How much time do you or your staff spend resetting users Active Directory passwords? Not only does it use your network administrators and help desk staff's valuable time but it represents lost productivity for the user.
The Active Directory Password Reset Tool frees your admin and Help Desk staff from the job of resetting user passwords by enabling users to reset their own password. The user will lose far less work time and won't have to make the (perhaps embarrassing) call for help. Instead they simply use a web browser to positively identify themselves and choose a new password.
How It Works
As long as users can access a browser from a computer on their corporate network (typically by using a workmate's or supervisor's computer) then they can reset their password.
Before users can use the tool to reset their password they configure a challenge question and response that only they know (this can be done via a browser or a Windows desktop application that can be run at logon). This is used to positively identify them in the event that they need to reset their password at some later time.
Upon entering their username the Password Reset Tool will ask up to three questions from their personal information stored in Active Directory along with the challenge question that they configured earlier. If they answer all questions correctly then they are authenticated and they can specify a new password.
Security
Challenge questions and responses are encrypted and stored in Active Directory so that only the user will know what they are. If the Password Reset Tool website is configured to use SSL (recommended) then no plain text will travel over network connections.
When a password change is attempted then any of the user, the person whose computer was used and an administrator can be notified automatically. All changes are also logged for administrators.
Easy Administration
ADPaRT can be administered using any web browser so administrators are able to access it from any computer on their network. Only users who are members of the specified Active Directory security group (Domain Admins by default) have access to administrative functions.
Installation is straight forward and requires no database installations, no changes to your Active Directory schema and no installation of desktop applications on your users' computers.
Licensing
The Active Directory Password Reset Tool is licensed annually for a specified Active Directory domain and will expire on the date shown on any page. A one year domain license costs US$95.00.
